After completing his Ph.D. in lake
rehabilitation at Murdoch University in Western Australia
Mark was appointed as an Associate Lecturer at Edith Cowan
University. Currently, Mark is now Head of the School of
Natural Sciences and a Principal of MiWER. Mark has worked
on the ecology and rehabilitation of pit lakes since the mid
1990’s, particularly coal, iron and silica sand pit lakes in
Western Australia and Queensland. He has a particular
interest in pit lake ecological processes and in wetland
restoration. |

Mine Water and Environment Research Centre
(MiWER), Edith Cowan University; Golder Associates, Perth
Specialising in aquatic ecosystems, Clint
has over 18 years’ research and consultancy experience
specialising in mining environments, and in particular
mining pit lakes, where he consults and publishes on
ecological development and sustainability. Clint is a Senior
Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University where he is a
Principal of MiWER and is also a Principal Environmental
Scientist at Golder Associates as
the lead contact for mine closure in Australasia. |

John is a Golder Associates Principal
and Australian Hydrogeology leader, and IMWA Executive
member who has worked in most parts of Australia and
overseas in several countries for more than 35 years in a
wide range of groundwater related studies and developments.
His experience includes exploration, development and
management of groundwater resources,
mining-related
studies including groundwater-related environmental studies
and closure design, irrigation drainage and projects
involving salinity assessment and management.

Dr Jan Vermaak is a consulting Senior
Hydrogeologist and Associate based in Perth. He has more
than 15 years experience in hydrogeology and mine water
management. The focus of Jan's work is mine water balances,
open pit dewatering, water management aspects related to
mine waste facilities and mine closure.

Jon is a hydrogeologist
with over 25 years’ consulting experience in water resources
management for the mining industry throughout Australia and
internationally. Prior to establishing Aquaterra in 1998,
he was a mine geologist in South Australia and a
hydrogeologist with the Geological Survey of Western
Australia, before commencing his consulting career in 1983
with Australian Groundwater Consultants. Jon is Senior
Principal Hydrogeologist and Director of Mining Services for
RPS Aquaterra.
Jon’s consulting career has largely been associated with
mine water management including water supply, dewatering,
integrated mine water management, environmental approvals
and mine closure planning. Helping mining companies to
develop and implement practical solutions for mine
dewatering and depressurization issues has been one of the
main challenges during Jon’s career. |
