Mid-Conference excursions

Available for all delegates and accompanying persons for Wednesday 3rd October. Please indicate your preferred option on the registration form.

Option 1: Free time/catch up

This first option involves no trip but instead gives delegates a chance to catch up on work demands or to spent the free time as they wish around Bunbury and immediate districts. 

No charge.

 

Option 2: BushTucker Winery and Brewery Tour

This second option will make available the "BushTucker Winery and Brewery Tour of Margaret River region" trip that was available only to accompanying persons on Tuesday 2nd October.  It will depart 10 am and return 5 pm.

$95 charge.

 

Option 3: Collie and Kemerton Pit Lake District tours

This trip will leave BEC and Bunbury hotels around 09:00 am and travel to Kemerton and then on to Collie about 30 minutes from Bunbury and will tour and discuss how pit lakes have been and are being created, and the opportunities and issues this creates to communities and the broader environment.  Return to BEC and hotels around 16:30 pm.

Meals and drinks provided.  Tour leader Dr Clint McCullough.

Sites proposed for visit include: Kemerton Silica Sand pit lakes, Lake Black Diamond, Lake Stockton, Lake WO5H, Lake WO3, Premier Aquafarm, Collie Motorplex, Collie River and Lake Kepwari.

Option 4: Mine Water Management at a Catchment Scale

This trip will leave BEC and Bunbury hotels and will travel to Collie 30 minutes from Bunbury and will discuss how mine water management is happening at a catchment scale in the Collie Coal Basin.  Return to BEC and hotels.

Meals and drinks provided.  Tour leader Assoc/Prof Mark Lund.

Sites proposed for visit include: Lake Stockton, Chicken Creek 4 pit, Premier Coal Water Treatment Plant and Collie River discharge point, Lake WO5H, Wellington Reservoir and the Collie River mouth.
